Track Improving After Storm Ahead of Preakness Stakes

Severe storms blew through Baltimore, Md. May 16 around 5 p.m. ET, resulting in severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings. The once listed fast track was drenched with rain by the time the delayed Black Eyed Susan Stakes (G2) field came onto the track.

According to the Weather Channel, no rain is expected May 17 ahead of the 150th Preakness Stakes (G1). The track and turf course were both listed as good ahead of the third race. With a high of 82 degrees, the track condition is likely to improve by 7:01 p.m. ET—when a field of nine will head to the post for the Preakness.

Journalism , runner up in the Kentucky Derby (G1) is the current favorite priced at 8-5, with Sandman  the second choice at 4-1.
