Field of Gold wins the Craven Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse

Field of Gold  will face eight rivals as he bids for classic redemption in the Irish Two Thousand Guineas (G1) at the Curragh May 24.

The John and Thady Gosden-trained 3-year-old finished second in the English Two Thousand Guineas (G1) at Newmarket Racecourse on his last start May 3, which resulted in the Clarehaven yard installing the "best available rider" policy instead of using Kieran Shoemark.

The son of Kingman   will be ridden by Colin Keane for the first time and bids to emulate his sire, who put his own Two Thousand Guineas heartbreak behind him when landing the Irish equivalent 11 years ago.

Field of Gold is one of three runners for Juddmonte and they also rely on the unbeaten Cosmic Year , with the impressive King Charles II Stakes winner partnered by Oisin Murphy. The powerhouse operation's team is completed by Windlord , twice placed at the group level.

Last year's shock Coventry Stakes (G2) winner Rashabar  is the fourth British-trained runner in the contest. The Brian Meehan-trained 3-year-old missed an intended outing in the May 11 French Two Thousand Guineas (G1).
