Mid-Atlantic-based trainer Rodolfo Sanchez-Salomon will face a pair of suspensions that total 60 days after admitting a recent TCO2 rule violation.
The Horseracing Integrity and Welfare Unit posted to its website May 23 that Sanchez-Salomon, a multiple stakes-winning trainer, had admitted a violation of the rule on alkalinization or administration of an alkalinizing agent (TCO2) involving the covered horse Tik Tok Daddy Dec. 13, 2024.
HIWU reports that Sanchez-Salomon will be suspended 30 days, beginning May 24, fined $2,500, and assigned three penalty points for the TCO2 violation. He also will be suspended an additional 30 days, beginning June 23, for the accumulation of six penalty points within a two-year period.
Tik Tok Daddy, racing for J R Sanchez Racing Stable, reached the wire third in a Dec. 13, 2024, claiming race at Laurel Park. Along with the sanctions against Sanchez-Salomon, Tik Tok Daddy will be disqualified from that race where he finished third and the $2,530 earned will be redistributed. The son of Social Inclusion has not raced since that effort but is entered in a May 26 claiming race at Laurel.
In training horses since 2017, Sanchez-Salomon has 336 wins and more than $10.8 million in purse earnings from 2,208 starters. He ranked in the top 100 by wins and by earnings in both 2022 and 2023.
