Nacho Problem Becomes Waiting's First Winner

Nacho Problem  broke her maiden June 29 at Belmont at the Big A and with it gave her sire, Waiting  , his first winner. 

Breaking from the outside in a field of eight 2-year-old fillies, the chestnut led throughout the six-furlong turf challenge for New York-breds. Jockey Christopher Elliott rode her three-wide, building a 3 1/2-length lead after a quarter-mile. 

Nacho Problem controlled the pace, and even as rivals closed the gap between them, maintained her focus down the stretch. She stopped the clock in 1:09.62 for a 3/4-length victory.

The Arindel homebred won in her third attempt. She is 1-0-1 with $59,600 in earnings. Nacho Problem is trained by Amelia Green. 

Her sire, Waiting, stands for $2,500 at Irish Hill & Dutchess Views Stallions near Stillwater, N.Y. He began his stud career in 2022.

Waiting is an unraced son of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah  . His dam is Wait No More , by Medaglia d'Oro  . Wait No More was the sale topper at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Sale, bringing a final bid of $1,575,000 from trainer Todd Pletcher. 

Wait No More's dam, Wait a While , who was trained by Pletcher and owned by Arindel, was the 2006 champion 3-year-old filly. She twice (2006, 2008) competed in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T). Despite never finishing better than fourth in that race, she has three grade 1 wins to her resume.
