Richie Sambora is such a big fan of American Pharoah that he is dedicating his single ‘Rise,’ scheduled to be released later this year, to the Triple Crown winner.
According to People magazine, Sambora visited American Pharoah at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club where trainer Bob Baffert made a comment about the colt needing a song written about him. That’s when Sambora decided that Rise is the perfect song for American Pharoah.
"I thought this song was so perfect because over the years, I have been following the attempts of so many horses to take the illusive Triple Crown," Sambora told People. "It is great anthem for this sport of kings, horse racing."
Sambora wasn’t able to attend the Belmont Stakes on June 6 where American Pharoah became the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years because his daughter was graduating from school but he will be watching the $1.75-milion Haskell Invitational later this afternoon with the Zayat family, who owns the colt.
"I've been betting big on my boy American Pharoah and Sunday isn't going to be any different!” he said.
This isn’t the first time Sambora will be spending time with the Zayats, the family was there when Sambora met their champion colt at Del Mar.

Sambora isn’t the only celebrity who has visited U.S. racing’s most famous horse in recent times, Drew Brees and his family stopped by Baffert’s barn at Del Mar in the middle of July and spent some time with the colt.
