Trainer D'Alessandro Reaches 1,000-Win Mark

Trainer Ralph D'Alessandro was represented by his 1,000th winner when Promise Me Forever won the eighth race Aug. 4 at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack.

A 4-year-old daughter of Utopia owned and trained by D'Alessandro, Promise Me Forever won the $9,000 claiming race at a mile by 3 3/4 lengths under Jaime Rodriguez.



Born in Italy, D'Alessandro arrived in the U.S. at age 11 in 1965 and got his start in the racing industry as an owner with trainers Bill Bartlett, Sharon Wasiluk, and L. Craig Cox, according a release from Finger Lakes.



He began training in 1986 and earned his first win with Marbleized at Finger Lakes.



D'Alessandro, 60, has a total of six stakes victories, including three with So Sweet a Cat, to his credit. So Sweet a Cat earned $439,048 as the New York-bred scored a convincing eight-length triumph in the $250,000 Statue of Liberty Stakes at Saratoga in 2004.



D'Alessandro's most recent stakes winner was Frisky Warrior, winner of the $50,000 George Barker Stakes.



Ralph D'Alessandro registered 936 of his 1,000 career win at Finger Lakes and he has trained the earners of more than $11 million during his career.
