"There will be some exciting new seating options this season," said Kentucky Downs live racing manager C.J. Johnsen. "We have tried to offer seating options that will appeal to all types of fans from a climate-controlled turf club to a tailgate section. We have added big video screens, restrooms, wagering windows, and hundreds more seats."
This season's live meet will offer numerous other special events, including the Festival of the Horse (Sept. 5), which is a day of live equine demonstrations capped by a steeplechase race (non-pari-mutuel); and Old Friends Day (Sept. 16), supporting the Thoroughbred retirement facility in Georgetown, Ky. and highlighted by the inaugural running of the $150,000 Old Friends Stakes.
The meet's closing day card, Sept. 19, features the $200,000 Dueling Grounds Oaks, the $300,000 Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf, and the $300,000 Kentucky Downs Ladies Marathon.
