Description:

The New York Racing Association is seeking a bugler to play "Call to the Post" for the remainder of the Saratoga Race Course meet after regular NYRA bugler Sam Grossman took a leave to attend to a personal matter.

John Durso, Jr., NYRA's director of communications and public affairs, said Grossman's leave is temporary and he remains a NYRA employee. "We wish Sam well and look forward to his return in the future," Durso said in a statement.

Musicians interested in filling in for Grossman, who also entertained fans between races and is known as "Sam the bugler," can send their resume, portfolios and contact information in care of NYRA human resources manager Julie Levine, who can be reached via email at .

Grossman has not been at Saratoga since Aug. 8 when he reportedly was escorted out of the jockeys' room at the upstate New York track before the final two races of the card.

The Times-Union reported that for the final two races that day and the following day, Sunday, "Call to the Post" was performed by Beth Ann Dixon, a bugler from Maryland who was attending the races over the weekend.
