Alywow Stakes winner Mississippi Delta will try to continue her winning ways at Woodbine when she returns to the Rexdale, Ontario track Saturday Aug. 22 for the $150,000 Ontario Colleen Stakes (Can-III).
Jackpot Ranch and Mike Rutherford's daughter of Giant's Causeway is looking to secure the first graded stakes win of her career when she starts in Saturday's one-mile turf race for 3-year-old fillies. She is one of nine fillies entered.
Trained by Mark Casse, Mississippi Delta extended her Woodbine win streak to three races when she posted a 3-length victory in the June 14 Alywow, a 6 1/2-furlong turf race that marked her 2015 season debut. Mississippi Delta closed out last year with a six-furlong maiden victory and a seven-furlong stakes win on the Woodbine Polytrack.
Mississippi Delta struggled in her previous start, which was her first career try at two turns, when she finished seventh in the Lake George Stakes (gr. II) July 24 at Saratoga Race Course.
Saturday's field also includes grade III winner Don't Leave Me, London Tower, who enters off a restricted stakes win on the Woodbine Polytrack; Her Majesty's Flag, who won the Duchess Stakes July 19 on the Woodbine Polytrack, and City Wells, a promising homebred for Robert S. Evans who has won two of her first four starts.
