Racing at Presque Isle Downs
The Pennsylvania HBPA and Presque Isle Downs announced a 20% increase in all overnight purses at Presque Isle Downs in Erie, Pa., effective through the end of the meet on Thursday, Oct. 23.
"We're thrilled to put this added money into the hands of our dedicated horsemen who support racing at Presque Isle Downs," said Todd Mostoller, executive director of the PA HBPA. "We're grateful to the betting public, as well as to our hard-working horsemen, plus all of the staff and management at Presque Isle."
"Presque Isle is enjoying an excellent racing season and we are appreciative of the horsemen and horseplayers who have supported our racing," said Matt Ennis, senior director of operations at Presque Isle Downs. "We are hopeful the added purse money for horsemen will only further bolster the racing product for the remainder of our season".
Live racing at Presque Isle Downs is held each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with special race cards on Thursdays in October and on Friday, Sept. 19 for the $300,000 Presque Isle Downs Masters (Grade II). Nominations for the Masters, as well as the $150,000 Presque Isle Mile, $100,000 Presque Isle Debutante and the $100,000 Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Stakes close Wednesday, Sept. 3.
