Trevor McCarthy to Hospital for Back X-Ray

Jockey Trevor McCarthy was taken to Saint Barnabas/Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J. Aug. 21 after his mount, 2-1 favorite Always Dear, clipped heels on the turn and unseated him in the day's 10th race at Monmouth Park.

"He went for a precautionary x-ray on his back," said Dr. Angelo Chinnici, medical director for the racetrack, "He was alert and moving all extremities."
 
Prior to Friday's incident, McCarthy had ridden 44 winners from 244 mounts, good for second in the Monmouth standings. Further updates will follow when available.
