Street Beast wins an allowance at Kentucky Downs

A busy stakes weekend at Kentucky Downs will come to a close Sept. 7 with juveniles spotlighted in a pair of million-dollar stakes.

The boys take to the turf first in the Juvenile Mile Stakes with 10 entered. The 8-5 favorite on the morning line is Midway Racing's Street Beast , who returns on short rest after breaking his maiden in allowance company over this course Aug. 28. That same path was used with success in this race last year by Tiztastic .

Trained by Ben Colebook, the son of Street Sense   stalked the pace and held on for a three-quarter-length triumph going 6 1/2 furlongs. His pilot, Luan Machado, returns for Sunday's ride.

Three of his rivals have already navigated the one-mile distance with success in J J Grey , Swamp King , and Baytown Dreamer , all breaking their maidens while sitting on or close to the pace throughout.

Snow Face Princess Makes first start for Asmussen

Meanwhile, juvenile fillies will travel 6 1/2 furlongs in the very next race: the Untapable Stakes. The heavy 7-5 morning line favorite, Lennilu , is set to scratch from the race as she went instead in the FTBOA Florida Sire Desert Vixen Stakes Sept. 6 at Gulfstream Park, leaving the role of favoritism to Winchell Thoroughbreds' Snow Face Princess .

Winchell recently acquired the Midshipman   filly for $775,000 at the Fasig-Tipton August Digital Sale following her victory in the Aug. 17 Bolton Landing Stakes over 5 1/2 furlongs at Saratoga Race Course. Formerly trained by Hall of Fame Todd Pletcher, she moves into the barn of Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen.

Eight of her 11 rivals exit last-out victories, seven at the maiden level.
