Snow Face Princess Returns to New York for Matron

Winchell Thoroughbreds' Snow Face Princess , a maiden and stakes winner at Saratoga Race Course over the summer, returns to New York for the Oct. 2 Matron Stakes (G3T) at Aqueduct Racetrack. 

Snow Face Princess had recorded those wins while under the care of trainer Todd Pletcher, but was moved to Steve Asmussen's barn after dropping the gavel for $775,000 at the Fasig-Tipton August Digital Sale. In her first start for her new connections, the 2-year-old daughter of Midshipman   ran second as the favorite in the Sept. 7 Untapable Stakes at Kentucky Downs. 

Flavien Prat, who piloted the filly to victory in the Aug. 17 Bolton Landing Stakes, climbs back aboard for the Matron. 

A full field of 12 will challenge Snow Face Princess in the 6-furlong turf sprint, including Untapable third-place finisher Believe in Magic  and impressive Kentucky Downs allowance optional claiming winner Snappy Comeback  for trainer Jose D'Angelo.

Two last-out stakes winners at Colonial Downs add to the intrigue of the wide-open affair. Mathieson Racing's Royal Testament , another daughter of Midshipman, raced to a 92 Equibase Speed Figure in taking the Rosie's Stakes in front-running fashion for trainer George Weaver Sept. 6.  

Undefeated Just Philtored , a stakes winner against state-breds at Colonial, faces open company for the first time since breaking her maiden by eight lengths on the dirt at Laurel Park.

"She is moving in the right direction now,” trainer Michael Trombetta said of Just Philtored. “It is time to see if she is ready to take this leap."
