Dreaming of Alys , the 61-1 upset winner of the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes, will try to prove that victory was more than just a fluke as she takes on seven other 2-year-old fillies in the $100,000 Surfer Girl Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita Park.
Four of those contenders—Pentle Bay , Yours Sincerely , Soaring Angel , and South Bay —are exiting the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Trained by Phil D'Amato for Agave Racing Stable, Medallion Racing, and Evan Trommer, Dreaming of Alys rallied to a 1-length score in the Juvenile Fillies in her first try on the turf. The Upstart filly had previously won her debut sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs on the dirt at Laurel Park before finishing an uninspired sixth in the Sorrento Stakes (G3).
Diego Herrera retains the mount on Dreaming of Alys, who will tote as much as 6 pounds more than some of her other rivals in Sunday's 1-mile turf contest.
D'Amato will also saddle the Irish-bred Yours Sincerely, fourth in a troubled trip in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Although the only maiden in the field of eight, Qatar Racing's Pentle Bay is one to especially watch coming out of the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf. Following a slow start, the Simon Callaghan trainee closed furiously from the back of the pack to get second at 75-1 odds.

Earlier on the card, 2-year-old males take on a similar trip in the $100,000 Zuma Beach Stakes (G3T).
There are no stakes winners in the Zuma Beach field, with the Jeff Mullins-trained Proletariat , the third-place finisher in the Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes (G3T), drawing in with the slight class edge.
A $200,000 2-year-old purchase, Proletariat earned his diploma second time out going 5 furlongs on the Del Mar turf. Collecting a field-high 94 Equibase Speed Figure for that performance, the son of Raging Bull backed up that win with his stakes showing, earning a 92 ESF.
Kyle Frey will pilot the colt for Dutch Girl Holdings and Irving Ventures.
Looking to rebound in the Zuma Beach are French import Caro Buono and the Doug O'Neill trainee Won for Lou , who were fourth and 10th, respectively, in the Del Mar Juvenile Turf.
One of two last-out maiden winners in the field is Amerman Racing's promising Stark Contrast . The Caravaggio colt displayed a flashy late turn of foot to defeat the well-regarded Medici in a Sept. 6 1-mile turf maiden special weight at Del Mar for trainer Michael McCarthy.
