Colt First Winner for Silver Mountain

Description:
Young Indiana stallion Silver Mountain gained his first winner Aug. 23 when Big Silver Hoss drew off in early stretch and convincingly won the third race at Presque Isle Downs.

Silver Mountain is a 10-year-old son of Victory Gallop—Country Cruise, by Riverman. He will stand in 2016 or a $2,000 fee at Nicks Farm near Sellersburg. There are 19 2-year-olds in his first crop.

Silver Mountain placed in two stakes during his racing career, both in 2009. He was third in the Kentucky Cup Turf Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Kentucky Downs and third in the John's Call Stakes at Saratoga Race Course while compiling a 3-4-6 career line from 34 starts and bankrolling $176,523. He is from the same family as grade I winner Golden Ballet and classic winner Drosselmeyer  .

South Fork Creek Stables' homebred Big Silver Hoss was positioned in third early in the 5 1/2-furong maiden special weight race. He made his winning move after three furlongs before dispatching rivals and cruising to a 2 1/2-length triumph in 1:05.41 on the all-weather track. Gerald Bennett trains the colt, who was bred in Indiana from the winning Lit de Justice mare Cunningly.
