Khozalite wins the Florida Sire Affirmed Stakes at Gulfstream Park

It has been quite the year already for trainer Jose D'Angelo, who picked up his first two Breeders' Cup victories earlier this month. And while the Nov. 29 Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association Florida Sire In Reality Stakes at Gulfstream Park is not on the same level as the Breeders' Cup, the trainer will have two chances to check off another accolade for 2025.

Khozalite , a dominant winner in the second leg of the Florida Sire Stakes series, the Affirmed Stakes, has shown an aptitude on two surfaces as his career begins. He broke his maiden on turf at Gulfstream in late August and showed a knack for running on dirt in the Affirmed. He headlines the field of 11 2-year-olds that will go 1 1/16 miles.

D'Angelo's other contender is Prost , who like Khozalite, is a son of Khozan  . Prost was spectacular in his debut, winning by 9 lengths.

"They are my two horses for the stallion stakes," D'Angelo said. "Prost is a talented horse too. He got started later than Khozalite. I was looking at the In Reality. That's why I ran him at 7 (furlongs) first time. I knew he was a good horse, but I'll be honest, he surprised me the way that he won."

Mythical Looks For Continued Success

Earlier in Saturday's card is the $300,000 My Dear Girl Stakes, also a part of the Florida Sire Stakes series. Raced at 1 1/16 miles, the My Dear Girl will showcase a field of six 2-year-old fillies.

Mythical , trained by Jorge Delgado, has gone 4-for-5 in her rookie campaign, including winning the Adironack Stakes (G3) by 3 1/4 lengths at Saratoga Race Course. Her only defeat was a distant fifth in the Spinaway Stakes (G1) at the Spa.
