Joseph Sutton's Bradester and Crossed Sabres Farm's Valid will go toe-to-toe once again in the $150,000 Philip H. Iselin Stakes (gr. III) Aug. 30 at Monmouth Park.
The two 5-year-olds will be meeting in their third straight graded stakes at Monmouth, with Bradester taking the Monmouth Cup Stakes (gr. II) last time out Aug. 2 (Valid was second, 2 3/4 lengths back) and the Salvator Mile Stakes (gr. III) July 5 (Valid finished third), both in front-running fashion.
NOVAK: Bradester Carries On in Monmouth Cup
Trained by Marcus Vitali, Valid got the best of Bradester to win last year's Monmouth Cup, however, and also has the Feb. 7 Fred W. Hooper Stakes (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park on his résumé.
Bradester, trained by Eddie Kenneally, has four graded scores to his credit, including the Ack Ack Handicap (gr. III) at Churchill Downs and the Mineshaft Handicap (gr. III) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, both in 2014.
Albano, the 2014 Pegasus Stakes (gr. III) victor, is the only other graded winner in the six-horse field. Allowance winners Matrooh, Anchor Down, and Matterhorn complete the field.
