Remington Park will honor a group of five inductees into its Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame on Friday, Dec. 5.
The following group will be inducted in this order Friday evening with the first race set for 6pm-Central.
Silver Goblin – Race 2
The versatile gray competed from 1993 to 1999. Owned and bred in Oklahoma by the late Al Horton of McAlester, Okla., Silver Goblin won six straight races at Remington Park from age two to three, including the 1993 Mathis Brothers Futurity.
Trained by Kenny Smith and ridden in all but one career race by Dale Cordova, Silver Goblin won multiple graded stakes events. He was victorious in 16 of 26 career starts, with seven wins at Remington Park, while earning $1,083,895.
Kris and John Richter (Richter Family Trust) – Race 5
The Perkins, Okla. family moved to Oklahoma when Remington Park opened in 1988, to build a breeding and racing business. The Richters have enjoyed success with multiple stakes winners, including the likes of Bien Nicole, Okie Ride, D Fine Okie and Notable Okie among many more.
The Richters have visited the winner’s circle 18 times in the Oklahoma Classics, the marquee stakes series for Oklahoma-breds at Remington Park.
The Richters are also well represented by their breeding operation. On most race dates at Remington Park, at least one breeding win can be credited to them.
Jim Byers – Race 6
The original voice of Remington Park, Byers moved to Oklahoma City to become the track’s first announcer in 1988. He continued in that position, calling up to three racing seasons for many calendar years until 1999.
Byers left horse racing for a time, concentrating on broadcasting other sports including baseball and hockey. He returned to calling races in the early 2000s and is now the announcer at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, serving there since 2016.
Clark Brewster – Race 7
Another Oklahoma-based owner and breeder with plenty of national success, Clark Brewster operates out of his Bristow, Okla. ranch. He is currently second in all-time owner victories at Remington Park.
Brewster has won multiple stakes races at Remington Park throughout his career with Bayerd among the best, winning the 2014 Springboard Mile.
Among the top runners Brewster has campaigned alone or in partnership recently is Cogburn, a multiple graded stakes winner in 2024 in turf sprints, earning more than $2.4 million in a career with nine wins from 16 starts.
Brewster also gains breeding wins at Remington Park with most race cards conducted.
Senor Buscador – Race 8
A winner of his only two attempts at Remington Park, Senor Buscador showed his late-running style in scoring the first two races of his career here in 2020.
Owned by Joey Peacock, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas and trained by Todd Fincher, Senor Buscador broke his maiden going 5-1/2 furlongs at Remington Park on Nov. 6, 2020. He was over 10 lengths behind the leader when he fired his move from last around the lone turn, making up the ground and pulling away to win by 2-1/2 lengths.
The 2020 Springboard Mile is where Senor Buscador caught the eyes of the racing world in his next attempt. He overcame a poor start, fell behind by at least 15 lengths with over a half-mile left, then launched his massive rally to fly by his nine rivals and go away to win by 5-3/4 lengths.
Senor Buscador won the world’s richest race, the $20 million Saudi Cup in 2024. There, he once again rallied from the back of the pack to win the 1-1/8 miles event by a head.
Senor Buscador raced 27 times from 2020-2024, winning seven with two seconds and three thirds, accumulating $12,944,427 in earnings. He is the richest horse to ever begin his career at Remington Park.
Senor Buscador now stands at Lane’s End in Versailles, Ky.
