Knightsbridge wins an allowance optional claiming race at Aqueduct Racetrack

In romping in three of five starts, Knightsbridge  has hinted at the promise of becoming a future stakes winner.

The future could be now Dec. 27 at Gulfstream Park when Godolphin's homebred 4-year-old Nyquist   colt competes in the $150,000 Mr. Prospector Stakes (G3). He is the 7-5 second choice on the morning line in the eight-horse field, and his odds will likely be shorter by post time for the 7-furlong race as morning-line favorite White Abarrio  will scratch, trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. told Gulfstream Park publicity.

Knightsbridge, trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott, ran competitively in his only prior stakes appearance when finishing in a dead heat for third in the Perryville Stakes (G3) in October 2024 at Keeneland. Since then, he's run just twice—finishing second in a February allowance optional claiming race over a one-turn mile at Gulfstream and winning a Nov. 22 comeback race against allowance optional claimers over 7 furlongs Nov. 22 at Aqueduct Racetrack.

The lightly raced one-turn specialist also raced twice before the Perryville, capturing those starts against lesser competition by a combined margin of 19 1/2 lengths.

Bred by Godolphin out of the Bernardini mare Tyburn Brook , Knightsbridge is a half brother to Speaker's Corner  , a son of Street Sense   who won three graded races, including the 2022 Carter Handicap (G1).

Junior Alvarado, aboard Knightsbridge in his past four races, now breaks from the inside post with the scratch of White Abarrio, who is now pointed to return in next month's Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1), a race he won earlier this year.

White Abarrio, unraced since the summer, was a post-parade scratch by a regulatory veterinarian minutes before the Nov. 1 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Del Mar. He last breezed Dec. 11.

Super Chow , with earnings of $980,145 for owner Lea Farms, can become a millionaire Saturday by finishing either first or second. Winner of the Gulfstream Park Sprint Stakes in February and one other race in six starts this year, he returns from a two-month layoff following a fifth-place finish in the Wilmington Stakes at Delaware Park.

"We're very happy and encouraged for this race. We gave him some time off after his last race, and he's really coming around," trainer Jorge Delgado said. "His workouts in the morning make us expect a good performance."

Super Chow set the pace before weakening to sixth in last year's Mr. Prospector. He is 1-1-2 in five starts at 7 furlongs, compared with 10-4-4 in 24 races at other distances. His lone 7-furlong victory came in the 2024 Toboggan Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct.

Other Mr. Prospector threats include Wound Up  and Playmea Tune .

Abundantia Co-Featured on Saturday

Preceding the Mr. Prospector on the Saturday card at Gulfstream is the $100,000 Abundantia Stakes for female turf sprinters. Moyglare Stud Farm's homebred multiple stakes winner Love Appeals  is favored to win the 5-furlong race with Tyler Gaffalione riding for trainer Miguel Clement.

Love Appeals #4 with Samy Camacho riding won the $100,000 Incredible Revenge Stakes at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, NJ on Sunday 8/3/25. Photo By Grace Harney/EQUI-PHOTO
