Travers Overnight Rating Best Since 2004

NBC's two-hour broadcast that included Keen Ice's upset victory over Triple Crown winner American Pharoah in the Travers Stakes (gr. I) Aug. 29 drew an overnight rating of 1.33, the best for the race since 2004 and up 102% increase over the 2014 telecast.

According to an NBC spokesman, the 5-6 p.m. EDT window in which the Travers was run drew a 1.66 overnight, up 15% from the one-hour telecast of American Pharoah's win in the Aug. 2 William Hill Haskell Invitational Handicap (gr. I).

The top audience for the Travers, based on the overnight ratings, was Louisville, Ky., with a 3.4 rating, followed by Ft. Meyers, Fla. (2.6), Nashville, Tenn. (2.4), Cincinnati, Ohio (2.2), Richmond, Va. (2.2), Oklahoma City, Okla. (2.2), Milwaukee, Wisc. (2.1), Tampa, Fla. (2.0), Baltimore, Md. (2.0), and Dayton, Ohio (2.0).

Final national ratings will be released Sept. 1.
