

Commandment slipped through along the rail to take the lead in the stretch and held off a stubborn foe in Chief Wallabee to win the Feb. 28 Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. He is trained by Brad Cox and owned by Wathnan Racing. Chief Wallabee was a clear second over Solitude Dude in third; Bravaro was fourth and Napoleon Solo finished fifth.
Commandment ($6.80) completed the 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in a final time of 1:43.33.
The Fountain of Youth Stakes distributed qualifying points toward the May 2 Kentucky Derby (G1) at Churchill Downs on a 50-25-15-10-5 basis to its top five finishers. Churchill Downs officials use qualifying points as a preference system when the Derby draws more than its 20-horse maximum field size.
