The Hippity Hop Derby usually features a group of kids from Camp Del Mar hopping their way down the track, but this year’s special edition features some of the racehorse trainers of Del Mar.
The TVG Trainer Hippity Hop Derby is back again for 2015 to benefit CARMA, which is a non-profit charity created to dedicated to raising money for retired California racehorses.
Back to defend his title is Vann Belvoir who was last seen crushing his competition in the 2014 edition of the event. Word around the racetrack is that Belvoir has been training great for this renewal and is on his toes coming into the race.
THE HIPPITY HOP DERBY LINEUP
Trainer Emily Mode, the only filly taking on the boys this year, is breaking from post position four and has put in some solid workouts under her belt. At odds of 4-to-1, rumor has it that she is geared up for a big performance against the boys.
The Hippity Hop Derby will take place on Saturday, Sept. 5 between races at Del Mar.
