First Winner for Adios Charlie

First-year sire Adios Charlie  , who stands at Ocala Stud in central Florida, was represented by his first winner Sept. 3 when R Sweet Exchange won the sixth race at Gulfstream Park.



Racing for Averill Racing and trainer Sally Mitchelhill, the bay filly was making her racing debut in the six-furlong $50,000 maiden claiming race. She went wire to wire, winning by 3 1/2 lengths in 1:12.41 as the 5-2 favorite.



R Sweet Exchange was bred in Florida by Carl and Martha Johnson. She is the first foal out of the Exchange Rate   mare Sweet Rate.



Adios Charlie (Indian CharlieTeak Totem, by Northern Afleet  ), won the grade II Jerome Stakes at 3 in 2011 and ran second in the Peter Pan (gr. II) and Dwyer (gr. II) stakes. In all he went 3-3-0 in seven starts and earned $251,090. He was bred in Florida by BryLynn Farm.



He has 23 juveniles in his first crop. His 2015 stud fee at Ocala Stud was $3,000.
