Secret Circle, a two-time Breeders' Cup winner and the 2015 Golden Shaheen victor, will be retired to stud for the 2016 breeding season, co-owner Mike Pegram said. Stud plans have not yet been determined.
The 6-year-old Secret Circle has amassed more than $3.6 million in earnings, winning or finishing second in 10 graded or group stakes, including victories in the 2014 Xpressbet Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) and this year's Dubai Golden Shaheen (UAE-I), while stretching out to win the 2012 Rebel (gr. II) and Southwest (gr. III) stakes.
The Bob Baffert trainee showed speed as a 2-year-old, when he capped his unbeaten campaign with a win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint. His lifetime record sits at 8-6-1 from 16 starts.
Secret Circle is a son of Eddington (by Unbridled), out of the Dixieland Band mare Ragtime Hope. The Unbridled/Dixieland Band cross has produced several quality runners, including graded winners Cotton Blossom, Eight Belles, and Sindy With An S.
"Secret Circle proved his class on the racetrack, and has the pedigree and race record you want to see in a stallion," Pegram said. "He is a horse of exceptional talent from an impressive family, and we look forward to introducing him to breeders."
