First Winner Lands for Sire General Quarters

Central Kentucky-based freshman sire General Quarters   picked up his first winner Sept. 3, when Golden Legacy Stable's Beautiful Sin won a maiden claiming race for juvenile fillies by 3 1/2 lengths at Gulfstream Park.

General Quarters, who won the 2009 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland, stood the 2015 season for $5,000 at Pope McLean's Crestwood Farm near Lexington. With $1,226,655 in earnings, 9-year-old General Quarters is the leading earner for sire Sky Mesa  

Trained by Juan Rodriguez and guided to victory Thursday by jockey Miguel Vasquez, Beautiful Sin rallied from sixth and drew off in the stretch as the 7-5 favorite in the 7 1/2-furlong turf race.
