Central Kentucky-based freshman sire General Quarters picked up his first winner Sept. 3, when Golden Legacy Stable's Beautiful Sin won a maiden claiming race for juvenile fillies by 3 1/2 lengths at Gulfstream Park.
General Quarters, who won the 2009 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland, stood the 2015 season for $5,000 at Pope McLean's Crestwood Farm near Lexington. With $1,226,655 in earnings, 9-year-old General Quarters is the leading earner for sire Sky Mesa .
Trained by Juan Rodriguez and guided to victory Thursday by jockey Miguel Vasquez, Beautiful Sin rallied from sixth and drew off in the stretch as the 7-5 favorite in the 7 1/2-furlong turf race.
