America’s Best Racing and BetAmerica team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.
Each week, one of our crack handicappers - Jose Contreras, Dan Tordjman, Victoria Garofalo, Mike Johnson or Vince Mathews – will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet. The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.
For some posts, our handicappers will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.
Our handicappers also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity for other wagers.
Place your bets at BetAmerica, which prides itself on outstanding customer service combined with the safety and security of wagering with a reputable advance-deposit wagering platform. Place your bets and you can walk away with some extra cash in your pocket.

BEST BET/WIN BET
Saratoga Race Course, Race 2, 1:03 p.m. ET
#5 Regal Kitten: This race full of first-time starters, and I think Regal Kitten could be better than his competition at appealing morning-line odds of 8-to-1. Sons and daughters of Kitten’s Joy win their first career races at a 17% rate, and Regal Kitten’s trainer, Joe Sharp, has won 20% of his races in 2015.

Gulfstream Park, Race 6, 3:12 p.m. ET
#3 Galan’s Gold: This first-time starter has been training at Gulfsteam Park West for trainer Tamara Levy in preparation for her debut on Saturday. Jockey Jonathan Gonzalez, who is winning 16% of his races at the current Gulfstream Park meet, will ride.
#6 Undefeated Mind: She improved to a fourth-place finish in her most recent race, which was also the second start of her career. Now, trainer Philip Gleaves is putting the blinkers on for this race, and Undefeated Mind’s most recent workout — presumably with the blinkers added — was sharp.
#7 Determined Lady: She shows good morning workouts in preparation for her first race on Saturday. Trainer David Fawkes and jockey Edgard Zayas are two of the best at Gulfstream Park.
Sunday, Sept. 6
BEST BET/WIN BET
Del Mar, Race 1, 5:05 p.m. ET
#4 Audra: The Rockport Harbor filly didn’t run poorly at all when she finished fifth in her first career race on Aug. 5. Audra has shown two improved morning workouts since her debut, and her trainer, Philip D’Amato, wins at a 20% rate with horses making their second career starts.
EXACTA BOX
Del Mar, Race 5, 7:10 p.m. ET
#1 Second Summer: He has shown an affinity for the turf so far in his career, including a second-place finish on the Del Mar grass on Aug. 1. He is the one to beat in this race.
#3 Mixio: He chased a very fast pace in his career debut on Aug. 1 in the same race in which Second Summer finished second. Perhaps with more experience, he will be able to find his way to the winner’s circle on Sunday.
#12 Selection: He has not competed in a race since May 7, so hopefully he won’t be too rusty off a break of nearly four months on Sunday. His second-place finish on the turf at Santa Anita on March 28 makes him competitive in this race, and Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux will ride.
