Casse Duo, Jokestar to Clash in Eclipse Stakes

Trainer Mark Casse, who has won the Eclipse Stakes (G2) at Woodbine four times, aims for a fifth with a pair of runners in the 1 1/16-mile challenge May 30.

Kentucky-bred Swift Delivery  makes his 2026 debut with hopes of washing away the end of his 2025. Although he finished the year with three consecutive off-the-board finishes, including two in grade 3 contests, the Eclipse is run at the same distance as the Not This Time   gelding's last win. In the 2025 Seagram Cup Stakes (G3), the gelding won by 2 lengths. 

Casse's other contender, Tosen Wish , is also making his 2026 debut. He has run his last eight races at Woodbine with two wins, but was eighth last out in the Valedictory Stakes (G3).

Both will need to bring their best form if they intend to get the best of favored Jokestar .

The veteran of 21 starts, Jokestar has yet to win a graded stakes, but has come close. In his final two starts of 2025, he finished as the runner-up in the Valedictory and the Autumn Stakes (G3).

"He's really come into his own," trainer Kevin Attard said. "We have always liked him. It was never a case of if he was going to be the horse we felt he could be, but always a case of when."

G T Five Hundred Eyes Milestone

A field of eight 4-year-olds and up will vie for the 6-furlong Jacques Cartier Stakes (G3).

G T Five Hundred , the Kentucky-bred son of Astern , is favored to pick up his first graded win after 41 starts. The 6-year-old gelding is off to a hot start this year with three wins from four races, putting black type to his name in the process. 

His chief rival Saturday appears to be the Ontario-bred Playmea Tune . The son of Maclean's Music  , with just 15 career starts, is no stranger to facing graded company. Seven times he's challenged for a graded win but, like G T Five Hundred, he has yet to hit the wire first. 

Fashion Forward?

Earlier on Saturday's card, Stylish Sue  looks to return to the winner's circle in the 1 1/16-mile Belle Mahone Stakes (G3). The Nyquist   mare was fifth in the Modesty Stakes (G3T) at Churchill Downs. But she captured the Latonia Stakes in her previous start. 

In what would be just her third start on the all-weather surface, Stylish Sue is cross-entered in the Mint Julep Stakes (G3T), but would go into that race on the turf as the longest of longshots in that field at 20-1 on the morning line. 

She's been training at Turfway Park, so should she not ship north, No Time , the 4-year-old daughter of Not This Time, would likely take over as the bettors' choice. She hit the board last time out, finishing third in the Ontario Damsel Stakes.
