Antiope wins her career debut at Colonial Downs

Antiope  broke her maiden June 26 in race 4 at Colonial Downs to become the first winner for the grade 1-winning freshman sire Jackie's Warrior  

In front-running fashion under jockey Paco Lopez, the Jane Cibelli trainee won the 5 1/2-furlong dirt race by a half-length in her career debut. She was timed in 1:04.57 after setting fractions of :22.66 and :45.88. The first foal out of the Overanalyze  mare Strong Beauty , who won the 2021 Louisiana Cup Filly and Mare Sprint Stakes, she is a homebred for Amy Moore's South Gate Farm. 

Multiple grade 1 winner Jackie's Warrior was retired at the completion of his 2022 campaign and currently stands at Spendthrift Farm for $25,000. The son of Maclean's Music   was a grade 1 winner at ages 2, 3, and 4, and named Eclipse champion male sprinter in 2021.

His most notable wins came in the 2020 Hopeful Stakes (G1) and Champagne Stakes (G1) at 2, the 2021 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes (G1) at 3, and the 2022 Churchill Downs Stakes (G1) and Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) at 4. He completed his career with a third-place finish in the 2022 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) at Keeneland.

Jackie's Warrior retired with 11 graded stakes wins and earnings of nearly $3 million. Trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen for owners J. Kirk and Judy Robison, Jackie's Warrior was the first horse in Saratoga Race Course history to win a grade 1 at the track in three consecutive years.
