Monmouth, Colonial Cancel July 4 Due to Heat

Racing at Monmouth Park
Colonial Downs and Monmouth Park canceled racing July 4 because of sweltering heat.
The two restricted stakes races that had been scheduled at Colonial—the Miss Disco Stakes and the Star de Naskra Stakes—will be run July 11, the track noted. Colonial will add a card July 13. Saturday's canceled races will be posted as extras.
Scheduled first post time for July 5 and July 6 is 10:45 a.m. ET—a move intended to avoid the highest afternoon temperatures.
Monmouth's races that were scheduled for Saturday will appear as extras for the card July 10.
Racing at Monmouth is scheduled to resume Sunday with a nine-race card highlighted by the $100,000 Monmouth County Stakes. Admission is free this Sunday in honor of the July 4 weekend and America's 250th anniversary celebration.
