Crazy Hot Mess became the first winner in the United States for Walmac Farm's Pinehurst when the 2-year-old filly broke her maiden on debut at Ellis Park to win a maiden special weight race by 1 1/4 lengths.
His first winner came June 5 in Mexico when Monza Crown won a 5-furlong maiden race.
Michael McMillan and Raymond Bryner's Crazy Hot Mess broke alertly, stalking the pacesetters through opening fractions of :22.57 and :46.06 over a sloppy, sealed track. The chestnut filly drove clear entering the stretch, holding off Rye Warrior and the well-bred daughter of Flightline , E Tee Aye , who finished third.
The final time for the 6 1/2-furlong race was 1:18.14.
Crazy Hot Mess was bred in Kentucky by Erick Alexander Torres. Co-owner McMillan purchased the filly for $15,000 at last year's Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Pinehurst was a precocious 2-year-old as well, breaking his maiden on first asking at Del Mar and following that effort up a month later to win the 2021 Del Mar Futurity (G1) by 4 1/2 lengths. He went on to win the 2022 Saudi Derby (G3) and was runner-up in the San Vicente Stakes (G2) at 3. He retired with a record of 3-1-0 from seven starts and career earnings of $1,213,500.
He stood the 2026 season at Walmac Farm near Lexington for an advertised fee of $7,500.
