Portion of Vinceremos' Earnings to Charity

WinStar Farm and Twin Creeks Racing, owners of Sam F. Davis (gr. III) winner Vinceremos, will donate a portion of the colt's earnings from every race throughout the 2014 Triple Crown trail to the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center, a Florida-based charity and the namesake of the Pioneerof the Nile colt.
The donations begin March 8 when Vinceremos goes to post as one of the favorites in the $350,000 Tampa Bay Derby (gr. II) at Tampa Bay Downs (full preview here).
"The Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center is a fantastic charitable organization that enriches the lives of so many with disabilities, and they do so through the majesty of horses," said Elliott Walden, WinStar's president and CEO. "We have always liked this colt since we purchased him, and we wanted to pay tribute to our friends at the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center with the name, hoping that we would be in the position we are now. The hope is that we can raise both money and awareness over the course of the next few months."
Bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall out of the More Than Ready mare Kettle's Sister, Vinceremos was purchased by Twin Creeks Racing from the 2013 Keeneland April 2-year-olds in training sale for $340,000 from Wavertree Stables, agent. He was a $140,000 buy from the Dapple Stud consignment at the Keeneland September yearling sale in 2012 when Oregon Bloodstock signed the ticket.
Vinceremos has won his last two races including a breakthrough victory in last month's Sam Davis, the main local prep for the Tampa Bay Derby. Trained by Todd Pletcher for WinStar and Twin Creeks, the promising son of a top WinStar stallion has earned $153,600 to date with two wins and a second from three starts.
The Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit organization in Loxahatchee, Fla., that serves children and adults with developmental, physical, and psychological disabilities. Vinceremos coordinates its equine-related services through physician and therapist referrals, group homes, school programs, and individual enrollment. Its staff includes therapeutic riding instructors, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
