Canadian Classic Winners Clash in Seagram Cup

The CA$175,000 Seagram Cup Stakes (G3) Aug. 1 at Woodbine will offer a clash of three Canadian classic winners: 2023 King's Plate Stakes winner Paramount Prince , 2025 Prince of Wales Stakes winner Runaway Again , and 2025 King's Plate winner Mansetti .

Paramount Prince, a 6-year-old gelded son of Society's Chairman , enters off a second-place finish in the Dominion Day Stakes (G3) in which Runaway Again wore him down to score by a neck. 

The Mark Casse trainee won the Seagram Cup back in 2024 and was third in last year's edition of the race for owners Michael Langlois and Gary Barber. The front-runner is the only entry with millionaire status, accomplished with an 8-3-7 record in 23 starts.

After catching Paramount Prince in a slow-paced Dominion Day Stakes, Stronach Stables' Dominion Day winner Runaway Again looks to repeat and capture his fifth career win in just his ninth start. 

The Sid Attard trainee, a son of Hard Spun  , took the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown in the 2025 Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie by a half-length over Mansetti, who had soundly beaten him weeks earlier in the King's Plate at Woodbine.

Mansetti will look to get back to top form after not seeing the winner's circle in five starts since his King's Plate score last summer. He returns to a route after two losses in sprints this year for trainer Kevin Attard, who trains the 4-year-old colt for owners Al and Bill Ulwelling.
