Reza Romps, Becomes First Winner for Tale of Silence

Reza  turned heads as he broke his maiden by 8 lengths with a last-to-first rally in his debut Sept. 19 at Gulfstream Park, becoming the first winner for Colebrook Farms Stallion Station's Tale of Silence  .

Last of five early in the 5-furlong race over Gulfstream's all-weather Tapeta track, Reza was angled off the inside into the clear on the turn by jockey Leonel Reyes and quickly surged past rivals. He caught favored Coralline  in the stretch and powered away from her over the final furlong. He was timed in :56.75 for the distance following splits of :21.39 and :44.66 set by Coralline. 

Reza, bred by Charles Fipke in Kentucky, is a 2-year-old gelding out of the grade 1-placed Orb  mare Pleasant Orb . Her only other foal to race is also a winner.

Reza was a $120,000 RNA during the Ocala Breeders' Sales' Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale this April. He was purchased for $22,000 by Mubarak Alotaibi at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2025.

Tareq Moubarak trains him for his father, Mohamed Moubarak, of MM Bloodstock. 

"He breezed (a furlong in) 9-and-4 (seconds) at the sale. We tried to pinhook him, me and my dad, but we didn't get the money we thought he deserved, so we brought him back to the barn," Tareq Moubarak said. "He's been training good. He needed some time after the sale. He's always shown that quick speed."

Saturday's race was scheduled for the grass but moved to the all-weather track.

"To be honest, I wanted to run on the turf," his trainer said. "My dad owns him and he said to keep him in. We did what the old man said, and it worked out."

Fipke also bred and raced 2018 Westchester Stakes (G3) winner Tale of Silence, who stood for three seasons at Darby Dan Farm in Central Kentucky before being transferred earlier this year to John Burness' Colebrook Farms Stallion Station in Canada. He stood earlier this year for a CA$2,500 fee. 

Freshman sire Tale of Silence, a 12-year-old son of Tale of the Cat, is a full brother to multiple grade 1 winner and sire Tale of Ekati.

Besides the Westchester at Belmont Park, Tale of Silence placed in four other graded stakes. He was runner-up to grade 1 winner Maximum Security   in the 2019 Bold Ruler Handicap (G3), also at Belmont, on his way to collecting career earnings of $540,382. He was retired after the conclusion of the 2020 racing season with a 3-5-3 record in 24 starts.
