Apprentice jockey Kali Francois earned her first victory as a jockey Sept. 13 aboard Marcy Brooks and David Diamond's Brave Titan at Monmouth Park.
Francois, a 24-year-old native of Wisconsin, has spent most of the spring and summer riding at Delaware Park, where Brave Titan, trained by Douglas Seyler, last raced. Brave Titan, a 4-year-old Cowboy Cal colt, won the Monmouth race by 6 1/4 lengths.
"It's great to get that first one," said Francois, who had 29 mounts heading into the Monmouth race. "I plan on spending the winter at Laurel (Park in Maryland). I'm just thankful for the opportunity and to ride my first winner."
Francois is a 2012 graduate of the North American Racing Academy in Lexington. Before her arrival at Delaware Park, she served an apprenticeship for trainer Gai Waterhouse in Australia, and before that galloped horses for trainer Todd Pletcher.
