Description:

Cheyenne Stables and Mac Nichol's Madefromlucky will attempt to make it back-to-back grade II victories in the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby Sept. 19 at Parx Racing.

The 1 1/8-mile Derby drew a field of 10 3-year-olds including highweight Frosted, who will carry 124 pounds because he is a grade I winner this year. The Pennsylvania Derby is carded as race 10 with a scheduled post time of 5:45 p.m. EDT.

Also on the Saturday program at Parx is the $1 million Cotillion Stakes (gr. I) for 3-year-old fillies, the $300,000 Gallant Bob Stakes (gr. III) for 3-year-old sprinters, the $150,000 Bayern Stakes for older runners going long, and the $100,000 Alphabet Soup Stakes for Pennsylvania-breds on the grass.

Madefromlucky in his last start Aug. 1 was a handy off-the-pace winner of the grade II West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort for trainer Todd Pletcher. The Lookin At Lucky   colt also won the grade II Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont Park in early May. His only losses since his maiden score last December have come at the hands of eventual Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.

John Velazquez has the call from post 5 at 122 pounds.

Godolphin Racing's Frosted, to be ridden by Joel Rosario from post 3, in his last start finished third in the Aug. 29 Travers Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Race Course after pushing American Pharoah for more than one mile in the 1 1/4-mile test. The Tapit   colt trained by Kiaran McLaughlin did very well to finish third behind Keen Ice and American Pharoah, and he figures to be the favorite in the Pennsylvania Derby.

Ralph Evans and WinStar Farm's Upstart, fourth after an even trip in the Travers for trainer Rick Violette Jr., drew post 9 for the PA Derby and will be ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. at 122 pounds. The Flatter   colt's last victory came in the Holy Bull Stakes (gr. II) in January at Gulstream Park; he subsequently finished first in the grade II Fountain of Youth Stakes but was disqualified and placed second for interference.

Trainer Bob Baffert, who won last year's Pennsylvania Derby with Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) winner Bayern, has entered the speedy Midnight Lute   colt Gimme Da Lute, who will break from post 7 with Martin Garcia riding at 122 pounds. Owned by Karl Watson, Michael Pegram, and Paul Weitman, Gimme Da Lute has won his last four starts, including the grade II Los Alamitos Derby at 1 1/8 miles and grade III Affirmed Stakes.
