Super Saturday Fashion on a Budget

Description:

September 26’s Super Saturday at Santa Anita Park (say that five times fast!) is one of the most exciting days of racing on the West Coast’s fall calendar. That’s because there are five huge stakes races that qualify their winners to run in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on October 30-31. With so much on the line, Super Saturday is a great excuse to get decked out for a great day at the races! If you’re like me, though, you want to look your best without breaking the bank; so I’ve put together five looks (plus one bonus outfit for attending morning workouts at the track) that will be perfect for Super Saturday at Santa Anita Park.

How great is this RomWe floral shirtdress for only $13? It’s a perfect fall frock for Santa Anita, and I paired it with this $27 Eton blue bag from Zaful.com and a pair of $30 flat sandals from GCGME.com. The straw fedora is $18 from Junior Amici, the chain cuff bracelet is only $6 from Charlotte Russe, and the earrings are $45 from Kara by Kara Ross. Add a modern pair of sunglasses ($11, Windsor Store) and you’re ready to go for just $150.

September in Southern California means that you can still rock a pair of shorts without freezing, and I love this $18 pair from Chicnova! I added this $13 blouse from SheIn (be sure to tuck it in to make sure that you can show off the waist detail on the shorts!) and the $31 RomWe wedges. The $27 Dorothy Perkins bag mimics the bow on the shorts, and the $26 Panacea cuff and $15 sunglasses (a vintage pair found on Amazon) add some cool geometric details. I included this plum nail polish (Essie, $8.50) since it’s the contrasting color to the shorts and will really pop with this look. All together, this outfit comes to $138.50, which should leave you plenty of money for a bet or two!

This skirt ($49, ChicWish) is romantic, ladylike and classic but maintains a modern feel through the skyline screen print. I paired it with a heather gray crop top for $23 from Glamorous.com, then added this bright pair of flats for $20 from ZooShoo and a quilted shoulder bag at $40 from Yes Style. Throw on some layered necklaces ($5.90, Forever21), this fabulous hat for $29 from Two’s Company and a show-stopping set of shades for $28 from Le Specs; all of this can be yours for just $194.90 from toe to topper!

Stylish, affordable and comfortable is such a winning combination to me, and this $9.99 RomWe dress definitely fits that bill on all three fronts. Give a nod to autumn with these $49 Report Myka booties, then add this $45 Foley + Corinna bag and the $26 watch from JC Penney and $32 hoop earrings from Kenneth Cole. The neckline of the dress is crying out for a pendant, so I chose this $29 version from Accessorize.com. Finish off the look with this $35 Cole Haan pair of sunglasses and you’re off to the races for $225.99.

I love this skirt ($40) and top ($27) from Glamorous.com; I paired them with these killer heels from Four-One-One for $33, but I also included these foldable flats ($26, Fit in Clouds) since sky-high shoes can be a bummer after a few hours. Tuck those flats into this $39 Charming Charlie bag (I love the stirrup detail on the buckle!) and accessorize with $20 cuff from BlingJewelry.com and a fascinator for $28 by NYFashion101. Grab a cocktail and toast yourself for putting together a perfect racing look for just $213!
Bonus: Morning workouts

Santa Anita Park is a great place to watch horses train in the morning. There’s even a dedicated area for it called Clocker’s Corner, where you can watch Thoroughbreds gallop while enjoying coffee and some of the best breakfast food the Los Angeles area has to offer. You may even spy Triple Crown winner American Pharoah getting in his pre-Breeders’ Cup Classic exercise while you’re there! Clocker’s Corner is a laid-back place, so a comfy pair of jeans like these from H&M for $31 are perfect. Add a simple top ($13, LE3NO PREMIUM), a $12 Sears watch and a horseshoe necklace ($35, T Tahari) and keep your feet happy with a pair of $35 Chucks in the color of your choice. If it gets cold, this $14 coal-colored beanie by Back Country and $49 LOOKBOOKSTORE.CO jacket will keep you warm! All in all, this look comes to $189.
