Description:

Robert E. Masterson's Churchill Downs Distaff Turf Mile (gr. IIT) winner Tepin returned to the work tab Sept. 18 at the Louisville oval. The 4-year-old daughter of Bernstein worked a bullet going five furlongs in 1:00 2/5, her first breeze since a runner-up effort in the Aug. 29 Ketel One Ballston Spa (gr. IIT) at Saratoga Race Course.

Norman Casse, assistant trainer to his father, Mark, said Tepin would make her next start in the $400,000 First Lady (gr. IT) at Keeneland on Oct. 3.  That race is run at one mile, which Casse said is ideal for his filly.

"We were real happy with how she worked today," Casse said. "She had a couple of tough beats at Saratoga, so it's great to be going back to a distance that's a bit more suitable for her."

Prior to her second in the 1 1/16-mile Ballston Spa, Tepin was also second in the 1 1/8-mile Diana (gr. IT) at the Spa.

Also on the work tab for Casse was Live Oak Plantation's World Approval, who worked a half-mile in :50 3/5. This was the first work for the Florida-bred son of Northern Afleet   since a triumph in the Saranac (gr. IIIT) on closing weekend at Saratoga. He  could make his next start in either the $500,000 Hill Prince (gr. IIIT) at Belmont Park on Oct 3 or the $100,000 Bryan Station at Keeneland on Oct 30.

Midwest Thoroughbreds' champion sprinter Work All Week also returned to the work tab on Friday morning for trainer Roger Bruggemann, going a half-mile in :48 flat. The Illinois-bred son of City Zip  , winner of the 2014 Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I), will be looking to defend his title in the $250,000 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix (gr. III) on Oct 2 at Keeneland.

"Everything went the way we planned, everything is good so far," Bruggemann said of the workout. "It's been exciting and fun the whole time, but there are a lot of worries. You never know what could happen next. Everything's been pretty exciting. If he wins the Phoenix, he'll be in the Breeders' Cup otherwise I don't know what we'll do. We'll just have to see what happens."
