Two top runners from the Todd Pletcher stable turned in works Sept. 20 at Belmont Park in preparation for starts in grade I stakes Sept. 26 at the New York track.
Rock Fall, a 4-year-old Speightstown colt who won the grade I Alfred G. Vanderbilt Stakes in his last start Aug. 11, worked a half-mile in :49. Rock Fall has won six in a row dating back to 2014, with his lone defeat in his career debut.
Owned by Stonestreet Stables, Rock Fall is expected to race next in the $400,000 Vosburgh Invitational (gr. I).
"He worked really well. He seems to be maintaining form," Pletcher said. "He's on target. He has been remarkably consistent and it has been a lot of fun to see him develop into a top-class sprinter."
Rock Fall was joined on the work tab by stablemate Curalina, a 3-year-old Curlin filly who covered a half-mile in :49 2/5 in preparation for $400,000 Beldame Stakes (gr. I). Owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Curalina has already won two grade I events, the Acorn and the Coaching Club American Oaks, in which she was elevated to first place after the disqualification of I'm a Chatterbox.
I'm a Chatterbox won the grade I Cotillion Stakes Sept. 19 at Parx Racing.
