WKYT has announced comprehensive coverage of this year's Breeders' Cup World Championships at Keeneland, including the live telecast of two Breeders' Cup races Saturday, Oct. 31.

WKYT's CW Lexington will televise live five of the undercard races on the first day of the Breeders' Cup World Championships, Friday, Oct. 30 from noon-3 p.m. ET.

On Saturday, CW Lexington will be on the air from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET, and will televise four races beginning with the $100,000 Perryville, for 3-year-olds at 6 furlongs, and the $100,000 Juvenile Dirt Sprint for 2-year-olds at 6 furlongs. CW Lexington will then televise the first two Breeders' Cup World Championships races. Those races will be determined when the final race order for both days of the Championships is announced Oct. 22.

It is the first time in Breeders' Cup history a local television affiliate will broadcast Breeders' Cup races in an original production.

In addition to the live race telecasts on Friday and Saturday, WKYT's CW Lexington will provide comprehensive Keeneland and Breeders' Cup programming beginning September 26 with "Keeneland Magazine." The Keeneland Fall Meet opens Friday, Oct. 2, and CW Lexington will televise "Today at Keeneland" at 10 p.m. on all race days. On Thursday, Prelude to the Cup Day at Keeneland, through Saturday, Oct. 29-31, the evening program will be titled "Today at the Breeders' Cup."

WKYT's CW Lexington will be live at Keeneland for "Breakfast at the Breeders' Cup" on Monday, Oct. 26 through Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 7-10 a.m. ET, featuring live workouts of Breeders' Cup horses and interviews with key personalities participating in the championships.

"We are excited and honored to be partnering with Keeneland and the Breeders' Cup to bring Kentuckians the sights and sounds of the one of a kind sporting weekend in the Bluegrass," said Chris Mossman, vice president and general manager of WKYT-TV & CW Lexington. "With the importance of Thoroughbred breeding and racing to central Kentucky and the excitement of this event's first trip to Keeneland, we're enthusiastic about providing live coverage to viewers throughout our viewing area."

"We are delighted by the tremendous coverage from the Lexington media for this year's Breeders' Cup and greatly appreciate the commitment from WKYT to televise two of Saturday's World Championships races to its viewers," said Breeders' Cup president Craig Fravel.

"We thank WKYT for their unprecedented coverage of the Breeders' Cup as well as their great support of Keeneland and racing year-round," said Keeneland president Bill Thomason. "This is another example of the extraordinary excitement throughout this community for the Breeders' Cup at Keeneland."
