Jess's Dream, the 3-year-old produced by Horses of the Year Curlin   and Rachel Alexandra, has been sidelined from training due to lameness detected in his right hind leg.

The big dark bay colt is at the Lexington farm of his owner/breeder Stonestreet Stables where he will stay for 30 days and then be shipped to Stonestreet's training center near Ocala, Fla., according to trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, who had the horse in his barn in New York.

"I expect to get him back in December," said McLaughlin. "He just needed some time off."

Jess's Dream is the first of the only two foals to be produced by 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra. Due to complications following the delivery of her second foal, grade I winner Rachel's Valentina, owner Barbara Banke's has said she will not breed her again.

Like his half sister, Jess's Dream won first time out. He had an impressive come-from-behind victory in a 1 1/8-mile maiden special weight Aug. 24 at Saratoga Race Course.

Jess's Dream had been merely galloping when McLaughlin said they noticed he was off.

"He came out of his race in good shape," McLaughlin said. "He's never had any physical issues, so we are looking forward to getting him back. He is a nice horse, and we'll have a good 4-year-old in the barn."
