Jimmy Bouncer has won the first four races of his career.

A field of 11 turf sprinters will compete in the Oct. 3 Eddie D Stakes (gr. IIIT) coming down the Santa Anita Park hillside turf course at about 6 1/2 furlongs.

The $100,000 race is named after the Hall of Fame rider Eddie Delahoussaye, who plied his trade in Southern California and is one of the most well-liked figures at California racetracks.

There is no easy standout in the race, with Midnight Storm installed as the mild 7-2 morning-line favorite. Midnight Storm won impressively on the course in allowance company in April, then finished second in the grade I Shoemaker Mile on the Santa Anita grass.

He has tailed off in his last two races, though both were in grade I company in the Eddie Read Stakes on turf and the Pacific Classic on dirt. He should enjoy the competition better here, and figures to be laying just off the pace.

Jimmy Bouncer won the first four races of his career and got the lead in the stretch of the Del Mar Mile Handicap (gr. IIT) but faded late. He is another of the homebred sons of Square Eddie   excelling for Reddam Racing, and he, too, should be forwardly placed from the rail. No Silent brings a two-race winning streak into the Eddie D, both on the Del Mar turf in claiming and allowance heats. His late kick could prove effective here.

Toowindytohaulrox also comes off a victory on the Del Mar lawn in allowance optional claiming company and has run well down the hill, finishing third in an April race. Veteran Majestic City hasn't shown much in his last three efforts, all in graded stakes, but won the Lone Star Park Handicap (gr. III) in the slop. Only four of his 28 career starts have come on turf.

Maltes is a group III winner in his native Brazil but has shown little in his two U.S. tries.

Chips All In won the Eddie D in 2013 from a stalking position, but he has not won in nine races since. His last three tries down the hill have not quickened the pulse, and he has been running in claiming events lately. Safety Belt won down the hill last year and has run some good races in minor stakes since.

Melatonin broke his maiden at Santa Anita last season and went on the shelf for a year and a half afterward, emerging to win an allowance optional claimer on the Del Mar dirt. He was most recently far back in a minor stakes.

Mr. Sexy ran off the board in last year's Eddie D and has not shown enough to recommend here. Quick and Silver would also need a major reversal of form to visit the winner's circle in this spot.
