Make Believe Returns to Longchamp, Wins Foret

Description:

Prince Faisal's Make Believe, a 3-year-old Makfi colt who won the group I Poule d'Essai des Poulains at Longchamp in May, returned Oct. 4 to take the Qatar Prix de la Foret (Fr-I) for 3-year-olds and up at about seven furlongs.

Make Believe, ridden by Olivier Peslier for trainer Andre Fabre, covered the distance on good-to-firm turf in 1:17.05. Limato, another 3-year-old, was second, with Toormor third.

Make Believe, out of the Suave Dancer mare Rosie's Posy, was bred in Ireland by Aston Mullins Stud.

In the Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp (Fr-I) earlier on the Arc day program, Goldream, owned by Sargeant and Morley, won in :54.79 for the about five furlongs. The stakes is for 2-year-olds and older.

Rangali was second and Muthmir third.

Goldream, a 6-year-old gelding by Oasis Dream out of the Machiavellian mare Clizia, was bred in Great Britain by Tsega Breeding Unlimited. He is trained by Robert Cowell and was ridden by Martin Harley.

"My horse is very tough," Harley said. "He got a little flat-footed but was doing his best work in the last 100 yards."

Goldream, a five-furlong specialist, won the Kings Stand Stakes (Eng-I) at Ascot in June.
