Hronis Racing's Talco, who had a fees-paid berth to the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) by virtue of his victory in the June 13 Shoemaker Mile (gr. IT) at Santa Anita Park, died in recovery from arthroscopic surgery "a few days ago," trainer John Sadler said Oct. 10.

Talco was a 4-year-old son of Pivotal who had a 5-5-3 record from 17 starts with earnings of $543,123. He finished fourth in his final race, the City of Hope Mile (gr. IIT) on Sept. 27, and also counted the Thunder Road Stakes among his victories.
