Fletcher and Carolyn Gray's homebred I'm a Chatterbox was on the track at Keeneland Oct. 11 as the 3-year-old filly turned in her first work since winning the $1 million Cotillion Stakes (gr. I) Sept. 19 at Parx Racing.
The daughter of Munnings worked four furlongs in a bullet :47 1/5, getting the first quarter-mile in :23 3/5 with regular rider Florent Geroux aboard as she resumed preparations for the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I). The time was the fastest among 40 working the distance.
"She was eager to go when I cut her loose," trainer Larry Jones said. "Just kind of getting her back in the motion. This was her first leg stretch since the Cotillion. We know she likes Keeneland and she has done well since her last race. It is all good."
I'm a Chatterbox has finished no worse than third in six starts this season—all stakes, five of them graded—with previous victories in the Silverbulletday, Rachel Alexandra (gr. III), and Fair Grounds Oaks (gr. II). She was disqualified to second in the CCA Oaks (gr. I) for interference. In Alabama (gr. I) the filly was squeezed at the break and lugged in down the stretch to finish second.
