Reddam Racing's Gomo, who earned a berth into the Oct. 31 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) with a victory in the Darley Alcibiades Stakes (gr. I), will not run in the $2 million race due to an ankle chip.
Jack Sisterson, assistant to trainer Doug O'Neill, said Oct. 16 that the Uncle Mo filly will undergo minor surgery to remove the chip at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital near Lexington.
Added fellow assistant Leandro Mora, "She's not 100 percent and we're not going to take any chances. We're not going to risk it, because our goal is the Kentucky Oaks."
Gomo wowed in the Alcibiades, when she stalked the pace and surged on the outside to win the 1 1/16-mile event by 2 3/4 lengths Oct. 2 at Keeneland. She had previously run third in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes and second in the Sorrento Stakes (gr. II), both at Del Mar.

"She's too good of a filly to (potentially) ruin her life if she runs and she's not 100 percent," Mora said Oct. 15, while also indicating the filly will receive 30 to 40 days of rest.
O'Neill and Reddam will still have an entrant in the Juvenile Fillies in Land Over Sea, a Bellamy Road filly who finished second in the Chandelier Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park Sept. 26 and the Del Mar Debutante Stakes (gr. I) Sept. 5. Undefeated Songbird, the likely Juvenile Fillies favorite, won both of those contests impressively.
