Description:

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships are heading to Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky. on Oct. 30-31; and as the best racehorses on Earth arrive in the Bluegrass, so does the opportunity to embrace some of fall 2015’s best trends. Below are six autumn essentials perfect for flaunting your fashion at the Breeders’ Cup and beyond.
1. Saturated jewel-tone dresses

Fall means deep, sumptuous colors, and jewel tones flatter every complexion. The blue jade dress is $200 from Halston Heritage, the P.A.R.O.S.H ruby shift is $263, the sapphire Unique Vintage A-line dress is $78, the emerald Doublju shift is $21, the citrine asymmetrical frock is $189 from Lattori, and the amethyst wrap dress is $89 from City Chic.
2. Stacked-heel boots

Praise unto the 1990s, stacked-heel boots are back! The staple of Generation X’s famous footwear gets a modern twist for fall of 2015. Not only are these shoes on trend right now, but your feet will thank you for the added stability that comes from a thicker heel base.
Clockwise from the upper left hand side, the boots are: Vince Camuto, $229; Michael Antonio, $75; Naturalizer, $149; Charlotte Russe, $49; Franco Sarto Yamka, $100; Charlotte Russe, $50; Frye, $191; and H&M, $129.
3. Trench coats

Classics are timeless for a reason, and trench coats have been a glamorous staple of wardrobes even before Holly Golightly, Cat and Paul got out of the rain and into the taxi at the end of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Equally perfect layered over a dress at the Breeders’ Cup as it is with a pair of jeans and booties while running errands, a trench coat is the ultimate must-have for your fall wardrobe. Going clockwise from the upper left-hand corner, these trenches are: Myrtlewood, $100; Walk Trendy, $60; Charex, $50; RoseWe, $32; Bzybel, $53; W118, $114; iLoveSIA, $36; and WS Dear, $54.
4. Felt hats

A felt hat is a great, cozy, and stylish addition to a fall wardrobe. They’re almost universally flattering, and they can be as formal or casual as you need them to be. Plus, if the weather gets cold and rainy, the (literally!) have you covered.

So many runway presentations for fall 2015 incorporated baroque jewelry into their looks: Gucci, Givenchy, Mui Mui, and so many others featured natural stones set in delicate filigree. I used earrings in these examples, but you can look to necklaces, bracelets, brooches and rings as a medium for beautiful baroque-inspired pieces.
From left to right, top row: GS by Gemma Simone, $32; Julie Vos, $85Middle row: Joomi Lim, $95; Charlotte Russe, $6; Catherine Popesco, $60Bottom row:  NOVICA, $100; Fornash Abbey, $25; M. Haskell, $21; Sweet Romance, $25
6. Bucket bags

Balenciaga. Ferragamo. Lanvin. These are names that make fashion fans weak at the knees, and each of these houses showed bucket bags with their fall 2015 collections. Always a classic, bucket bags combine the chicness of a structured purse with the utility that comes with a roomy carryall that can tote programs, perfume, a wallet, pens, binoculars, a spare phone charger, and pretty much anything else under the sun in one stylish package.
From top to bottom, left to right, these bucket bags are: Charlotte Russe, $12; ZAC by Zac Posen, $295; Mia Tomazzi, $120. Middle row: Venus, $29; Liz Claiborne, $39. Bottom row: Danielle Nicole, $25; Elliott Lucca, $198; Genuine People, $60.
