Position: Ambassador
Summary:
America’s Best Racing is looking for an outgoing individual to represent and market their new fan development initiative America’s Best Racing at horse racing events in California in 2016. Specifically, the Ambassador will focus on year-round relationship development with area fans, businesses, affinity and social groups, and the racetracks of Santa Anita Park in Arcadia (Los Angeles area) and Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, Calif., near San Diego. They will also contribute content, both written and video, to www.americasbestracing.net.
Skills & Qualifications:
The ideal Ambassador should be/have:

Interest and knowledge of the Thoroughbred horse racing industry
Strong influencer networks in the California area, specifically in the entertainment and fashion industries
Independent, outgoing, and friendly
Comfortable interacting with large crowds
The ability to get along well with others and work as a team
Strong writing skills
Extensive knowledge of all social media outlets
A competent user of Mac, PC, and smart devices
Knowledge of photography, shooting video, and photo and video editing a plus
The ability to stay ahead of the curve on cultural trends
A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing (or a related field), preferably Sports Marketing
Local knowledge of the California market is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

Research and create promotional plans for the California market to attract influential individuals to the racetrack
Reach out to these influential individuals (E.g. bloggers, media people, entertainers) in the California market and invite them to spend a day at the race track hosted by America’s Best Racing in exchange for earned media
Host new fans at California racing events, educate them about the sport and provide them with insider racing and betting knowledge
Promote racing events in-market through appearances at targeted locations, social media, and local press
Create content by shooting video, taking photos, and sharing through social media channels
Determine and present marketing opportunities for America’s Best Racing
Manage hosting and travel budgets throughout the year

Company Overview:
America’s Best Racing (www.americasbestracing.net) is a multi-media new fan development and awareness-building platform, initiated by The Jockey Club, designed to increase the profile and visibility of America’s best Thoroughbred racing events, with a primary focus on the sport’s lifestyle and competition.
Salary & Benefits:  
Annual salary commensurate with experience, partial paid health insurance, and partial paid travel expenses.
Type of Employment/Work Environment: 
This position is for full-time employment from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016. Initial training will be based in Lexington, KY.
The Ambassador will be expected to maintain regular work hours with consideration of additional hours taking place on various nights and weekends. The Ambassador will be the implementing one of the most exciting sports marketing initiatives in horse racing. 
The Ambassador will be expected to focus the majority of efforts towards the live race meets that take place in California. However, relationship building during the remaining months of the year will be vital. The Ambassador will be responsible for their living arrangements should they re-locate for this position.
