Although mulitple graded stakes winner Ageless is continuing to recover from an injury sustained in her dramatic victory in the Oct. 9 Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes, the 6-year-old mare could still run in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IT).

The daughter of Successful Appeal   returned to trainer Arnaud Delacour's barn Oct. 19 at Keeneland after undergoing minor surgery and spending time at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, but the trainer said the mare's status for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IT) won't be known until closer to the Oct. 31 race.

In the Buffalo Trace Franklin County, run at the same distance and course over which the Turf Sprint will be run this year, Ageless sustained a cut in her left hock.

"She looks great physically," Delacour said Oct. 20. "The only question (of whether Ageless will run) is the cut, and we won't know until the race. Right now we're just taking it one day at a time. It looks as good as any laceration like that could. We would like to get a breeze into her next week."

Delacour said Lael Stables owners Roy and Gretchen Jackson pre-entered Ageless in the Turf Sprint, but that pre-entry fees are refundable if a horse is unable to participate due to an injury.

Ageless, who has 11 wins and eight placings in 22 starts and a bankroll of $713,130, finished fourth, only three-quarters of a length behind winner Bobby's Kitten, in last year's Turf Sprint at six furlongs over Santa Anita Park's downhill turf course.
