Del Mar Keeping It “Haute As Ever”

Description:

For a track founded by legendary singer Bing Crosby, Del Mar Race Track has maintained a certain nostalgic flavor.  In honor of both the track’s history and the retro flavor imbued by Instagram’s filters, people dressed up in 1940’s inspired attire for the “Haute As Ever” Instagram Meet-up. The event attempted to be the world’s largest InstaMeet and rumor has it that the founder of Instagram even attended the meet-up. The event included a retro styling station, 1940’s style models, live Jazz and Swing Music, a hat station by Christine A. Moore Millinery, live artists, and a lot of like-minded “Instagrammers” posting photos and “hashtag-ing”.  People who attended also had some of the best seats in the house for watching the races along with our own private betting stations. Check out the pictures below to get a taste of what Hollywood’s golden days must have looked like at Del Mar Race Track.

Retro cars served as the perfect backdrop for photos during the event.

Attendees used ABR koozies to keep their drinks cool.

The America’s Best Racing team set up a table at the event and gave away jockey goggles and t-shirts to attendees to get them in the spirit of the races.  The jockey goggles were a huge hit!
I even joined the fun and got my hair styled in “victory rolls” like the women of the 1940’s. Victory Rolls were named in the spirit of the USA’s hopeful and ultimate victory against the Nazi’s in WWII.
