Lady Shipman worked five furlongs in 1:01 3/5 at Keeneland Race Course the morning of Oct. 22.

Lady Shipman, who has never been worse than third in 11 starts, breezed five furlongs in 1:01 3/5 at Keeneland Race Course the morning of Oct. 22 in preparation for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IT).

Brian Smeak, assistant to trainer Kathleen O'Connell, said the 3-year-old daughter of Midshipman   worked very good and is coming into the race at her best.

"She's as good as she's ever been," Smeak said. "She's dappled out and is doing super."

The personality of the filly who generally is a model of decorum, has lately turned, especially when she's on the track, Smeak said.

"Usually, she is very nice, but lately she has turned into a bear," he said. "She kicked the wall this morning. She's turned into a monster."

A homebred for Randall E. Lowe's Ranlo Investments, Lady Shipman has eight wins to her credit, including five stakes, all this year. With two additional stakes placings, Lady Shipman has earned $333,600.

'I think she's a freak. She just loves to run," Smeak said.
